How many gallons are there in the Pacific Ocean?
There are 70 million cubic miles of water in the Pacific, which equates to 187,189,915,062,857,142,857 gallons, (187 quintillion gallons or 187,189,915,062 billion gallons), of water in the Pacific Ocean.

Western States of the Unit…ed States of America: Washington, Oregon, California, Alaska, Hawaii Four states on the East of Australia: Tasmania, Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland Other countries may have districts or provinces that border the Pacific Ocean as well. Then we have to ask: Is a Province a State by just another name? Actually there are three continents that do not touch the Pacific Ocean, if you accept that the Southern Ocean is a separate Ocean. The continents are Antarctica, Europe and Africa. Otherwise it is Europe and Africa. (MORE)
Well, 1 pint of water weighs roughly one pound, so 1 gallon would be about 8 pounds. Of course it's a lot easier in SI units, where you can just count by tens. 1 liter weighs 1 kg. Done. A gallon of fresh water weighs between 8.33 lbs. and 8.34 lbs. Seawater, on average, weighs 1.028 times more…. So, seawater weighs about 8.56 lbs. per gal. Seawater varies in weight depending on the mineral content, so the above is just a suggested avg. (MORE)
There are approximately 1.3 billion cubic kilometers of water in the oceans. 1 cubic kilometer of water contains 1 trillion liters of water. Therefore there are approximately 1,300,000,000,000,000,000,000 liters of water in the oceans, which is 1.3 sextillion liters. To get to gallons, there are …3.78541178 liters in 1 gallon. Doing the math, that means there are 343,423,668,428,484,681,262 gallons of water in the oceans. That's 343 quintillion gallons, or put another way, 343 billion BILLION gallons. That's a lot of water. this is based on the volume of the sea.. so this isn't taking into account that there is a lot of life in there, fishes, plankton, bacterias, plants etc.. I don't know what the volume of all sealife put together is, but for instance; There is a hermaphroditic zooplankton species in the Black Sea (average weight of each around 10 g) a total of 1 billion = 109000 Kg in the Black Sea at the end of the 1980s god knows how many there are now, and this is just one specific little plankton thingy in a small sea.. so over the entire oceans there must be one hell of a total weight.. oh and fiy; a fish produces 1.5 times it's own volume to urine each day :P so god knows how much pee is created each day down there :D (MORE)
Five: . Washington . Oregon . California . Hawaii . Alaska Five US states border the Pacific ocean.
The fact that the Eastern US is composed of many small states while the Western US is composed of a few large states.
Answer . The United States Geologic Survey (USGS) estimates there to be 326,000,000 cubic miles of water on the planet. A cubic mile can hold a little more than 1.1 X 10 12 gallons. The USGS also estimates that 96.5% of that water is in the planets oceans. 96.5% X (1,100,000,000,000 gall…ons per cubic mile) X (326,000,000 cubic miles) ======= = 346,049,000,000,000,000,000 gallons. . You would think there would be a definite answer to this question, but sometimes "North America" is used politically to refer to only Canada and the US, other times it includes Mexico and Greenland. Physically, the continent includes the Central American countries of Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, …Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama. So, depending on what definition you are using the answer could be 2 (Canada and the US) or 9 (all the countries above except Greenland and Belize). (MORE)
The Arctic Ocean would fit into the Pacific Ocean about 12 times. The Pacific Ocean is the largest ocean in the world at 179.7 million square kilometres (69.4 million sq mi). The Arctic Ocean is the fifth largest (and smallest) ocean in the world at 14,056,000 sq km (5,427,000 sq mi).

It can only be approximate dueto fir…stly, defining the Northern and Southern oceanic boundariesand those across coastal features, and secondly, having a veryaccurate figure of depth over every square mile. The Atlantic'sfloor is very irregular, with its mountainous Mid-Atlantic(spreading) Ridge and the associated transform-fault ridges, umpteen discrete sea-mounts and various basins and trenches. Theonly sensible answer there, assuming the figures are largely right,is that it contains "Approximately 1.8 X 10^16 gallons" . Err,would they become UK gallons East of the MIR? (MORE)

The arctic ocean has an area of 5,105,700 square miles. There isan estimate of over 4.4 million gallons of water. . +++ . That answer only makes sense if you quote the volume, notsurface area - i.e. include the mean depth over the ocean'sarea.

There is no way to count the mass due to the overwhelming size of the Pacific Ocean, migration patterns of animals, and vast amount of unexplored underwater terrain. We know less about the ocean floor than the surface of the moon. And i guess thats just how it is
There is 5, 580 miles of the Pacific shoreline in Alaska. The totalamount of tidal coastline is 31, 383.
well their plenty but its around 100-250! RIGHT ANSWER: 100-250? R u kidding? There's 100-250 species within 5 miles of my house! Tere are like more than 1000 species in the pacific ocean

There are either 4 or 5 that touch the Pacific Ocean: four are on the Pacific Rim, and one (Antarctica) is technically surrounded by the Southern Ocean. The four others are North and South America, Asia, and Australia.
A lot, but shark numbers are declining rapidly due to the demand for shark fin soup and an irrational fear of shark attacks to humans by harmless species.

Before Lewis met up with Clark, he began the expedition on August 30, 1803 in Pittsburgh PA. Lt. William Clark would offer to join Lewis on the expedition weeks later on October 13, 1803 at Camp Dubois (in present-day Indiana). From there, they sailed down the Ohio River towards St. Louis. In spring… 1805, they continued to the headwaters of the Missouri River, struggled across the Continental Divide, and headed west along the Salmon, Snake, and Columbia Rivers to the Pacific. They landed at the mouth of the Columbia River, Astoria, Oregon. The expedition then ended on September 23, 1806 upon their return to St. Louis from Oregon. If you believe that the expedition began in Pittsburgh, then it took 2 years and 25 days. If you believe that the expedition began when Clark joined then it took 1 year 11 months and 11 days. (MORE)
Many volcanoes form along the edge of the pacific plate because it is a subduction zone, more dense oceanic crust sinks beneath continental crust. This occurence allow sl volcanoes to form here.
Each year there are between 50-70 active volcanoes. At least 20 are probably erupting right as youh read there words!!

It's deepest part is known as the challenger deep. Named after the Royal Navy ship, HMS challenger that first sounded it back in December 1872 to may 1876, who recorded a depth of 31,614 feet, (9,363 metres).
Zero. If you actually understand that it is seriously impossible to swim for that long without drowning, dehydrating, or being devoured by sharks, then you can see that no one has swam across the Pacific ocean. The greatest distance ever swum by a person is supposed to be when Benoit Lecomte "swam t…he Atlantic Ocean". Note, however that since there is no standard definition of the feat "swimming across the Atlantic", there is uncertainty about the distance that Lecomte actually covered swimming in the water rather than riding in a boat. He only swam for 6-8 hours each day, so he would have been on board a boat the rest of the time. Also, it should be noted that he stopped for a week in the Azores near the end of his swim. It is unlikely that he actually swam the whole distance; according to the Rocky Mountain News , Lecompte would have had to average 8 mph to have swum the entire distance, 3-4 times as fast as other long-distance swimmers. Lecompte announced that he plans to "swim the Pacific" in 2012. As of February 2012 the planned date for the start of the swim is 14 April 2012. (MORE)
It depends where you measure it. The distance is much larger if you measure it across Canada than Panama for instance.
The ocean itself can be said to be owned by no one or owned by everyone living on this Earth. Governments do "own" the three-mile buffer of any ocean that flows into it's land boundaries. Governments own land and the waters upon the land. Since the Pacific Ocean is not land, nor is it habitable by h…umans, it cannot be made into a state. The Pacific Ocean contains 20,000 to 30,000 islands, many of which are inhabited and have their own governments. So you can hear people refer to one or more "Pacific States" in referring to these governments . (MORE)
