Why do men have beards?
men are able to grow beards due to a hormone released at the base of the man's penis. this hormone stimulates hair follicles in the facial area and enables a beard to grow.

Its just a matter of choice. Some men like to grow beards, while others do not. Well if we all had beards you wouldn't be able to tell us appart.
Because they are probably carrying one copy of the red-hair gene. Called MC1R, it is commonly found in Ireland and Scotland. People who have two copies of this gene are redheads; people who carry just one copy have blonde/brunnette hair and reddish beards.

The most common method would be to shave. If you're looking for a more permanent method, there are various depilation(hair removal) techniques. It's possible to hit the hair follicles(the pits that the hair grow out of) with either laser or electricity, which stops them from ever growing hair again.… It's uncomfortable, slow and costly. Yes. I'm full blooded pinoy born and raised in the Phil. and I sport a full beard. I noticed, however, that most pinoys are unable to grow full beards though I've seen several prominent showbiz pinoys as well as some of my friends who are also 100% pinoys who have "spotty beards." These are the type…s that often grows primarily on the side of the face and neck but very few around the cheeks and upper chin area. I also noticed that their moustaches usually don't connect with the facial beard leaving a little gap.. The same is true for most Chinese and Koreans though. I don't see too many of them grow full beards. (MORE)
Why did Peter the Great oppose beards on Russian men and what other steps did he take to change their outward appearance?
Tsar Peter I (or Peter the Great) wanted Russian men to look more like others in western society. At that time, in the 17th-18th century, men in Western Europe and the Americas were removing their beards and mustaches and opting for a different style of dress. First the tsar insisted that men wear E…uropean dress at court events; then, he began to order court subjects and townspeople to dress in European style. Within a few years he imposed a tax on beards. Clergymen were exempt from the tax, but everyone else had to pay for the right to wear beards. (MORE)

Most guys start growing facial hair around the age of 14 or whenever you hit puberty
You have a beard by having hair on your face. Now, for some people this comes naturally with time. Hair will start appearing on your face usually around the age of thirteen- though sometimes it happens sooner, or later. But not everyone gets hair on their face naturally, and for those people, mor…e drastic measures may need to be taken. I personally recommend Malanox. Malanox is a mighty sorcerer who lives atop Mt. Manbeard, and he is the kind of all beards. Many think that Malanox has woven his beard into the room he sits in because of it's great length, but the truth is that Mt. Manbeard is actually named what it is because it is made entirely of beard hair- Malanox's beard hair. Malanox was not born with a beard, you see, and had to endure many trials and tribulations that he will not speak of to obtain one. Now, he deigns to make having a beard easier for those with his condition, and will gladly help you in your quest for having hair on your face. To find Mt. Manbeard, submerge a razor blade in water, freeze it into a block of ice, and sleep with it under your pillow. When you awake, directions to Mt. Manbeard will be there in place of the razor blade. If you dare follow the directions and manage to reach Malanox's lair, he will aid you in your quest for having hair on your face. I hope this answer was helpful to you. (MORE)
Some Muslims believe that it is compulsory to have a beard. Others believe it is only recommended.

Leviticus 19:27 - "You shall not round off the side-growth of yourheads nor destroy the edges of your beard." Many Jews have voluntarily taken upon themselves a stringentinterpretation of the above verse, according to which the beardisn't shaved, or is trimmed but not shaved completely. As such, man…y Jewish men have beards (it's the reason I have one, too). However, as tends to be the case in Judaism, this law is open toRabbinic discussion and there are other ways in which the verse canbe interpreted - some halakha-authorites say that it bans only theuse of a razor which cuts the hair against the skin and thus it isacceptable to trim the beard with scissors or to shave itcompletely with an electric razor that doesn't shave too closely. Evolution and selective pressure. In this case, it was most likely that men found women without less hair to be more attractive, while it wasn't as big of a deal for men. It may also have been that less hair was more cleanly, so they were less likely to die of disease before having children. Since …more women with little hair are mated with, they have more kids and the genes for less hair are passed on. Over generations and generations, the population of women with little hair dominates. Traditional Answer: Many Orthodox Rabbis do not shave their faces because the Torah specifies that men are to not shave the 'corners' of their head. So that they don't accidentally violate this mitzvah, they don't shave their faces at all. There are some Orthodox Rabbis that remove or shape their …beards, particularly among modern Orthodox Rabbis. Among Non-Orthodox Rabbis, the practice of wearing a beard is rare (particularly among female rabbis.) Answer that is not based on Jewish law or custom: For those that do, it hearkens back to ancient near eastern culture; from ancient times throughout the middle east, a beard was a badge of manhood, and as shaving was not widely practiced until the time of Alexander the Great, many men simply did not shave. Hence, very old men often had long beards, and in the case of scholars and learned men, the longer the beard the greater the authority, because the more years a given man had been a scholar. It was a cultural habit, that overtime became a cultural tradition across all Semitic groups, and it stayed even as the Semitic within the Jews of Europe was diluted. Among Jews, secular or religious, again a beard is a badge of manhood; you can hide behind immaturity for so long while you can't grow a beard, but, once it comes in, there is no hiding that you're not a youngster anymore, you're a man, that is the attitude among Semites, Jew or Arab. In Judaism, as a sort of "throw back" to more ancient Semitic culture, the beard is revered, but it is also a source of angst for the immature male, especially in Israel. The youth feels oppressed by his bearded elders while longing to have his own beard that can't seem to come in fast enough. (MORE)

You're confusing the word lamb with mutton. Large sideburns are called mutton chomps, mutton is also used to describe a type of lamb. The confusion is common. This article describes the difference of the two. When referred to a man's facial hair, it is always called mutton.

Facial hair has nothing to do with sexual orientation or even "howit feels." Bearded men have beards for a wide range of reasons.
Not necessarily. In ancient times, most Orthodox Jewish men were bearded, but shaving was never forbidden in Judaism.

To harass and dishonor them. Shaving is forbidden in judaism, and some jewish men with beards have pe'ots(sidelocks), which are traditionally connected with the religion. These are forbidden for jews to cut off, especially for a jew in the orthodox direction.
Assuming this is "men in India growing hair deliberately", then it may be done for cultural or religious reasons. As a generalization on the hair-growth patterns of various ethnic groups, it would have to be due to inherited traits within the general population.
No they didn't. Many ancient Greeks did have beards though (like Plato and Socrates), but a beard was a status symbol. Nice clean up of the untidy answer!
Actually, both Orthodox Jewish and religious Muslim women cover their heads; this is a middle-eastern custom that historically was meant to show both modesty and respect for God (Allah), the One who is above you. Since the hair was regarded as sexual in some cultures, women who wanted to show they w…ere modest, especially married women, kept their hair covered, a custom that has survived in these (and some other) religions. Muslim women who wear the hijab (head covering) are thus showing their dedication to Islam by this visible sign of their faith. As for the facial hair for men, once again, both Orthodox Jewish men and religious Muslim men observe this custom. Many men in Biblical times had facial hair, and there was a Biblical verse about not cutting the corners of one's beard. Similarly, while the Holy Qur'an did not mention the importance of beards, later sayings (Hadith) attributed to the prophet Muhammad did say this; these verses asserted that men should have a beard as a sign of piety and devotion to Islam. Also, many Muslim scholars believe the prophet himself had a beard, so for men to grow one is a sign of respect. (MORE)
No clue. They look like idiots. But they have gorgeous wives, soobviously I'm missing something!
Many do, and many do not. Among those who don't, some trim their beards and some don't. Those who grow a beard are doing so as a voluntarily stringent interpretation of the Torah's prohibition of shaving the corners of the beard with a razor blade.
Was Dwight D. Eisenhower the first person to discover that bearded dragons are really just old men changed by gypsy magic?
Yes. Astoundingly, he was also the first person to discover that unicorns are just horses that wear party hats and eat magic bananas
